Bella Ramsey, who is non-binary and uses pronouns they/them, has stunned at the 2023 Met Gala after previously being told that they did not have a ‘Hollywood look’.
The 19-year-old rose to fame in their major role as Ellie alongside Pedro Pascal in the HBO series The Last of Us.
While they were being praised for their amazing performance in the post-apocalyptic show, they recently revealed that their path to success has not always been easy.
Ramsey just revealed that while auditioning for roles, they were told they did not have a ‘Hollywood look’ and got passed on jobs due to her appearance.
In an interview with GC, the actor admitted that there were many roles they lost out because of their looks.
“I was told [in] one of my first auditions ever… The director really liked me but I didn’t get the part because I didn’t have the ‘Hollywood look’. That’s something that I’ve always found very interesting,” they revealed.
Ramsey also told GQ that when they got the role in The Last of Us, many people slammed them for their ‘square head.’
“You’re looking for a comment that’s more painful than the last one. I’d kid myself that I was doing it in jest,” they added.
Fortunately, Ramsey’s talent managed to win and the creators of The Last of Us – Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin – chose the 19-year-old from more than 100 auditionees.
Ramsey now stunned everyone when they walked on the red carpet. She sported a jewel lined suit with Eva Fehren and also Sydney Even jewelry.
The actor was also seen wearing a Hublot watch at the strictly invite-only event.
