Meg Ryan has been slammed by trolls after she made a rare public appearance in New York to support Michael J Fox, who was screening a new documentary titled STILL.
The two posed for photos and fans were touched by their strong friendship.
But internet trolls were quick to slam the ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ star’s appearance, with one person writing: “What in the world has Meg Ryan done to her face?!”
Another wrote: “This is Meg Ryan. Hopefully, women will learn from this. Plastic Surgery is for Frankenstein.”
A third said: “Meg Ryan spent thousands to make herself unrecognizable and hideous.”
Someone else tweeted: “Yikes…just say no to Botox and fillers ladies. Don’t take it from me, take it from Madonna and Meg Ryan.”
Referring to a fellow star, another person tweeted: “The stunning Lesley Manville is ‘ageing’, very gracefully and beautifully. Meg Ryan is defying ‘ageing’ with cosmetic surgery & fillers and it’s nothing to gloat about. We’ve all got eyes and we can see she’s ruined herself.”
Fans immediately defended the actress, with one person writing: “Leave her alone. Meg Ryan still absolutely gorgeous.”
Another said: “Ya, it looks like Meg Ryan but older. Can we just leave women alone as they age.”
A third added: “Leave Meg Ryan alone!”
The actress has been seen less and less in public, with many believing it is due to the scrutiny she has faced because of her appearance.
But she recently revealed that she was set to direct and star the romantic comedy What Happens After, which features David Duchovny.
The movie follows ex-lovers Bill, played by Duchovny, and Willa, played by Ryan, who were reunited after getting stuck at an airport overnight.
