Britney Spears’ husband, Sam Asghari, has broken his silence following reports that he filed for divorce.
Taking to Instagram, the 29-year-old model and actor wrote: “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S**t happens.”
Asghari added: “Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
Sources told TMZ that the 29-year-old had suspected the superstar had cheated on him with a housekeeper at their home in Southern California and that there was a video showing Spears being disloyal.
Asghari also alleged that his estranged wife had asked a staffer to film her while she was completely naked.
The singer’s alleged behavior was described by a source as risky ‘to her own safety.’
Asghari told his friends that Spears would physically attack him during their relationship and that there were fights when security had to intervene.
He claimed that the Toxic hitmaker started punching him while he was sleeping and he was also photographed with bruising on his face and arms earlier this year.
Insiders also claim that the model was concerned with his wife’s fascination with knives, with one telling TMZ that the superstar was ‘paranoid someone was going to get her, and she needed knives as protection.’
Sources also said that Asghari thought he could ‘save her’ but after only 14 months of marriage, he realized that there was no chance of ever ‘saving Britney.’
“The reality of life with Britney was that it was not fun and it’s not a surprise at all that the marriage didn’t last,” the insider added.
